19th Century set of six Hoopback Windsors

C1805-1810 True set of six CT Hoopback Windsor chairs with Bobbin turned legs. Old varnish over traces of original black. Excellent condition. Signed in chalk under seats “Ely”, believed to be Charles Ely (1772-1853) of Lyme, CT, local chairmaker and possible Innkeeper. Ely is an old founding family of Lyme, CT. No other known survivors with his mark.
